Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students at Father Judge High School with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers while continuing to strive to become lifelong learners. In total, about 12 million high school and college students are enrolled in CTE across the nation. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies and making academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. The goal of the programs at Father Judge High School is for all students enrolled in CTE programs to have a job placement, with the necessary certification, by the time of their graduation.
What is the CTE Program?
CTE programs allow students to complete courses at school that result in certifications that are industry-specific. The program starts in Sophomore year and will require a student to take 2 periods every day (90 minutes) of a specified CTE class. This program will run every day of school for the entire Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. In the senior year, students will have a unique opportunity to participate in a Co-Op where students will earn High School credit while working, earning income, at one of our industry partners' job sites.

Does it affect my Graduation?
While your graduation requirements will change. There will be no additional time needed within the 3-year program in order to graduate. There are additional online courses that are required to be taken. Those details are provided as part of the application Process.
Who Can Apply and When?
Only current Freshmen can apply to become part of a CTE program. The application process does take some time and is explained in a mandatory parent meeting. Your son is responsible for signing up to apply for a program after the conclusion of the first semester.
Only your son will be given the application information. It is his responsibility to inform you and get the required information to apply.
