General Information

  • Provides art experiences for students not enrolled in the art class
  • Supplements the experiences of art class students on a more one to one relaxed atmosphere
  • Hands on experience with a variety of art mediums and techniques, e.g. clay, paper making, print making, drawing, animation, etc.
  • Meets every Monday to foster an environment conducive to the creative student
  • Students dictate the activities they would like to do
  • Encourages students to produce art outside of the classroom setting, develops creativity and motivation

  • Develops effective communication skills and on-camera presentation
  • Students learn effective interviewing skills 
  • All students are welcome to join this activity
  • Former staff members have been accepted to leading university communication schools , including Columbia, Fordham, Syracuse and Temple

Environmental Club

Recent Achievements

  • Ms. Kasper won the 2011 Environmental Community Service Award of $5,000 from NBC 10, WAWA and the Environmental law Firm of Fox, Manko and Associates.
  • Currently working on a new wind turbine, using the first turbine as a prototype.

General Information

  • Ms. Nora Kasper (former teacher) and 20 of her science students worked with a grass roots organization to construct a Wind Turbine. Father Judge is the first school to embark on this Green Adventure and had the honor of naming the pilot program: (WATTAGE) Wind Activated Turbine To Achieve Green Energy. The turbine is expected to power something on the Father Judge campus.
  • FJHS is now a Weatherbug school. Real live streaming of weather conditions at Father Judge can be seen twenty four hours a day / seven days a week.

  • Designed to provide physical activity for the entire student body on a non-varsity level 
  • Sportsmanship, fun and participation are the primary goals of the Intramural Program.
  • Individual and team competition is offered
  • Program includes basketball, bowling, flag football and volleyball
  • Students are encouraged to propose new intramural offerings. New ideas should be discussed with Fr. Jack.

  • The Ministry Team serves the Father Judge Community by assisting at the many school liturgies throughout the year.
  • Students who already participate in activities will find that the Ministry Club is a great way to further develop their talents and serve the Lord.
  • The Team meets as needed to review schedules, plan and practice for the liturgies.

  • Sponsored by Temple Law School and the Pennsylvania Bar Association
  • The PA Bar Association distributes civil or criminal case materials to all participating PA high schools
  • Members have the chance to demonstrate their skill as an attorney by conducting opening statements, closing arguments, direct examinations and cross examinations.
  • Members have the chance to demonstrate their skills as a witness by preparing for cross examination questions, body language and eye contact with the jury,
  • Team participates in a Mock Trial Tournament.

  • Father Judge MUN Team won the National Championship in 2014
  • Top individual and team awards at the inaugural LaSalle Regional MUN in 2014
  • 2 delegates won top awards and 2 won honorable mentions at the World Championships in New York 2013
  • Undefeated in the Regional debates for the last 8 years
  • Won the Model UN World Championship 2006, 2007, and 2008
  • Won the Team Award at the US National Championship 2004

General Information

  • Model UN Club allows a delegate to represent a country’s policy and to find solutions to current conflicts.
  • Current team consists of about 20 members meeting weekly.
  • Program will include a trip to Washington for the National Championship and to New York City for the World Championship
  • New members are always welcome.

National Honor Society - De Sales Chapter

Recent Achievements

  • Each quarter faculty members nominate outstanding students who are not NHS members.
  • A Crusader Scholar is selected from each grade by the NHS Executive Council. Crusader Scholars receive a certificate and a gift of $25 sponsored by the Father Judge High School Alumni Association.

General Information

  • The De Sales Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) promotes and encourages academic performance and personal character both in and out of the classroom through the Crusader Scholar Program.
  • NHS members must maintain a general academic average of 90 in each marking period and provide the required number of service and tutoring hours to the school
  • For selection to the NHS, the student must receive at least three votes from the five person Faculty Council which thoroughly reviews the nominee's academic, discipline and activity records; teacher comments; and service to the school and local community beyond the requirements of the Christian Service Program.
  • Every member of the NHS Peer Tutoring Program:  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 7:10 AM in room 130, (7:45 on assembly days) and immediately after eighth period.

Father Judge High School Newspaper     The Crusader

  • Five or six issues of the Crusader are scheduled for this year.
  • All articles, puzzles, comics and pictures are contributed by students.

General Information

  • Meetings are held usually after school.
  • The Newspaper is constantly looking to expand. All students interested in writing, drawing or photographing for the Crusader should see Mr. Tim Dailey, or email him at tdailey@fatherjudge.com
  • All members are expected to contribute something to every paper and help with the layout.
  • Student editors are appointed to proofread articles and make changes.
  • The Crusader writers cover everything from school events, local/world events to entertainment and sports.
  • The Crusader is looking for underclassmen to join.

General Information

  • "No Place for Hate” was founded by the Anti-Defamation League to enable students to challenge anti-Semitism, racism, hatred, and bigotry in all forms both in the school and the broader community.
  • The Father Judge No Place for Hate Chapter works to respond to and prevent acts of hatred and/or bigotry through education and organization.
  • Students work to reduce bias and bullying, and increase an appreciation for diversity.

Respect Life Club (Crusaders for Life)

Peacefully participating in rallies and marches, including the Annual March for Life in Washington, DC.

General Information

  • Respect Life Club is an organization of faculty and students whose mission is to uphold the dignity of all human life.
  • Promote the dignity of the elderly by visiting nursing care facilities.
  • Promote the dignity of families by volunteering at social service agencies and praying for them.
  • Uphold the dignity of teenagers by promoting the virtue of chastity.
  • Protect the dignity of the unborn by praying and fasting for them and by peacefully participating in rallies and marches.

Robotics Club

  • Entered its Rookie competition in 2010
  • Participates in an organization called FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)

General Information

  • Formed in 2009
  • Currently sponsored by several corporations: Environmental Tectonics Corporation, Boeing, Comcast, JCPenney, Crown Holdings Inc and Airline Hydraulics.
  • Each year FIRST announces the rules for a new game. Teams have 6 weeks to design and build a robot that will participate in the competition.
  • Students have the opportunity to work side by side with actual engineers, to learn how a robot works.
  • The club offers something for everyone: electronic wiring and sensors, computer programming, construction, metal working as well as learning how to turn ideas into reality and problem solve.
  • In need of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and computer experts who would be willing to join our team.

  • The Student Council is the student governing body of Father Judge High School representing the Student Body in opinions and other matters to the Administration.
  • Student Council members represent Father Judge High School at school and community functions.
  • Each class elects a President, Vice-President and seven at-large Representatives; Senior, Junior and Sophomores hold their elections in early Fall and Freshmen elections take place in early December.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

Recent Achievements

Distributed over 500 pamphlets with tobacco cessation information during the Great American Smokeout held in November, 2011.

General Information

  • SADD's mission: To provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, and other destructive decisions.
  • Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving but students realized that positive peer pressure, role modeling and environmental strategies could prevent other destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for their lives.
  • Today, the mission has expanded to become a peer-to-peer education, prevention and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, teen violence, and teen suicide.
  • Future projects will include driver safety, alcohol abuse and the dangers of drinking and driving.

  • Help organize service events and fundraisers for a variety of charities and research foundations

  • The team chooses members of the Father Judge community who exemplify the Salesian virtues of gentleness, compassion and generosity in the spirit of St. Francis De Sales, our patron saint. These individuals are spotlighted at school events and receive Outstanding Service Awards as outlined by the Jefferson Awards Students in Action program

  • The Theater Arts Program is open to all students.
  • Two major productions are presented annually; a play in the Fall and a Spring Musical produced in cooperation with the FJHS Music Department.
  • Auditions are held in November for the drama and in mid-December for the musical.
  • Student-produced shows are at Christmas and in the Spring.
  • Educational theater workshops are also offered during the summer months.
