Welcome Students
As the last school year of the 20th century comes to a close. I would like to welcome you and your families to Project GLOBE (Global Learning and Observation to Benefit the Environment). This is a hands on, student centered, program which includes field based learning as evidenced by our continuing partnerships with the Fairmount Park Commission and our GLOBE protocols. We are fortunate to have the technology that enables us to prepare ourselves for venturing into the new millenium. If any of you are close by, over the summer, and would like to collect data from our instrument shelter (this measures maximum and minimum temperatures and precipitation) just stop by and see me before we leave for summer vacation.
Have a safe and restful summer. I look forward to investigating global issues for you.
God Bless.
Instructions for Summer Reading and List of Books
Journal - black marble copy book - Date each page and write the page numbers that you read each time you pick up the book. A short description of what you read and your responses to the book as you read will be helpful. You will need to bring in your journal on the first full day of classes in September. I will work with you on your reports. The journal will be the first phase of the summer reading grade. Your choices are:
The Black Pearl: by Scott O'Dell
The Good Earth: by Pearl Buck
A Silent Spring: by Rachel Carson
The Sea Around Us: by Rachel Carson
A Creed for the Third Millenium: by Colleen McCollough
